Improves more over time
Chemical peels are an extremely common skin treatment. According to RealSelf, 93% of patients who underwent this treatment would recommend it. Chemical peels prompt a gradual peel of the treated area resulting in new, smoother skin.
Our chemical peels Brisbane treatments refresh and invigorate the skin and targets several different skin conditions such as fine lines and wrinkles, acne scarring, melasma, pigmentation and pore size. There are two types.
1. Superficial peels: Include a mild alphahydroxy acid which addresses the outermost damaged layer of the skin resulting in smoother and brighter skin. Ideal for first timers, people with delicate skin and for active acne at fortnightly/monthly intervals.
2. Medium peels: Higher percentage of Glycolic or trichloroacetic (TCA) acids are used during a medium peel to remove the epidermis and the underlying dermis. Ideal for addressing freckles, moderate sun damage, acne scars, deeper wrinkles and poor skin tone.
For our chemical peels Brisbane treatment we recommend a minimum of two weeks between treatments (for superficial peels) and until you obtain the results you are after.
Chemical peels are customised based on your comfort level.
You should begin to see improvements in your skin tone and texture once post-peel symptoms such as dryness and flaky skin subside. Your complexion will continue to improve over time. At the very beginning, breakouts for patients with active acne are normal due to bacteria sitting in deeper layers of the skin that has not surfaced.
Pregnancy, breastfeeding, people with dark skin tone or prone to hyper or hypopigmentation are not suitable. However, we recommend having a consultation and exploring possible alternatives.
There are two different methods of exfoliation, microdermabrasion is physical exfoliation and chemical peels are chemical exfoliation with the latter being suited for most skin types. A superficial peel is most comparable to a microdermabrasion but a medium depth peel can achieve deeper layers of the skin and address issues stemming from below the skin’s surface, like wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and scars.
